Dr Susan Stevens Appointed Chair of the Mary Ward International Board

Mary Ward International is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Susan Stevens as Chair of the Board of Directors, for a three-year term commencing 1 February 2026.

Susan is well known across the Loreto network, bringing more than 25 years of deep engagement with Loreto education and governance. Her long-standing association includes two decades as Principal of Loreto Toorak, as well as extensive service on Loreto education boards in Committee, Director and Chair roles.

Susan also brings valuable continuity to this appointment, having previously served on the Mary Ward International Board and as Chair of the MWI Grants Allocation Committee. In these roles, she worked closely with Loreto Sisters and partners, supporting projects grounded in the charism of Mary Ward and the Gospel values that guide our mission.

Reflecting on her experience, Susan has described this work as an opportunity to “uphold, further and bear witness to the charism of Mary Ward”, a commitment that continues to shape her leadership approach.

Beyond the Loreto network, Susan offers broad governance experience through directorships and committee memberships across a diverse range of organisations. Her expertise in leadership, strategic planning, organisational development and innovation will bring strong insight and direction to the Board as Mary Ward International continues to evolve.

Susan’s appointment reflects her deep commitment to Mary Ward International's mission: advancing education, employment opportunities, and justice for women and girls worldwide through locally led, sustainable initiatives.
