Mary Ward International works alongside the Loreto Sisters, local partners, and communities to advance education, opportunity, and justice across the global Mary Ward network.
Our work focuses on three interconnected areas: education, economic empowerment, and advocacy. Each area strengthens the others, helping to build the foundations for lasting, community-led change.
Our work connects people across countries, cultures, and contexts.
Communities lead change from within, knowing their needs, strengths, and priorities best. Sisters and partners build trusted relationships and provide local insight and practical guidance. Schools, donors, and volunteers help sustain this work through advocacy, funding, and long-term support.
Across the network, projects are not isolated. They are connected by a shared commitment to education, equality, and justice in action.
This is how change is carried forward: through listening, trust, and the leadership of those who know their communities best.
One network. Many communities. A shared mission for education, opportunity, and justice.
Mary Ward International supports projects across Australia, India, Kenya, Peru, Romania, South Sudan, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Zambia, Albania, and beyond.

Education, whether formal, non-formal, or vocational, is a vital pathway to dignity, opportunity, and gender equality.
For a child who has missed months of school, it can mean a safe place to learn again. For a young woman, it can mean the confidence to imagine further study or meaningful work. For a mother or caregiver, it can mean practical skills that strengthen her family’s future.
Economic empowerment gives women greater choice in the decisions that shape their lives, families, and communities.
Across the Mary Ward International network, women are building practical skills, developing small businesses, and finding new ways to earn income within their communities. These opportunities are often the first step towards greater confidence, financial stability, and the development of women-led enterprises and initiatives.
Advocacy helps women, children, and communities understand their rights, access support, and participate in decisions that affect their lives.
In many communities, injustice is made harder to challenge when people do not know where to turn. Through trusted local partners, women, children, and families gain knowledge, support, and the confidence to speak about the issues affecting their lives, from safety and child protection to legal rights, trafficking risks, menstrual health, and gender equality.
