This edition explores what it means to support development that does no harm, respects local knowledge, and helps communities build the foundations they need to thrive.
Inside this edition, you will read about the solar energy project at the Mary Ward Retreat Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. Through solar-powered water access and drip irrigation, the centre is strengthening its food production, reducing electricity costs, and building greater resilience against drought, power cuts, and water scarcity. Led by Sr Hellen Oluoch ibvm, this work reflects a commitment to environmental care, women’s leadership, and sustainable community development.
This edition also considers the essential role of clean water. In Ostico, Timor-Leste, Mary Ward International and the Loreto Sisters are working with the local community to establish a sustainable water source, reducing the daily burden carried by women and girls who walk long distances to collect water from a contaminated stream.
