A Dedicated Network
MWIA partners with a network of dedicated Loreto Sisters, volunteers and community workers who support women and community-led sustainable programs to transform unjust structures and reduce poverty and oppression.
Dare to Imagine
The Loreto Sisters, volunteers and community workers who run MWIA projects do so with rigorous planning, extensive research, community engagement, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation of outcomes. Many of them, in the tradition of Mary Ward, have ‘dared to imagine’ and have moved to remote places to assist where the need is greatest. MWIA projects focus on three key areas –
Open and Transparent
MWIA encourages the active and open engagement of the communities it supports to build true partnerships. This is achieved through mutual listening and sharing of knowledge, ideas and challenges.
We are guided by a robust policy framework and are transparent in all aspects of our operations via our Annual Impact Reports and Financial Reports.
Best Practice
As a full member of the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), MWIA is committed to adhering to ACFID’s high governance standards, transparency, accountability and financial management.
Mary Ward International Australia is an approved organisation under the Overseas Aid Gift Deduction Scheme (OAGDS) and endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient.
In a world of inequality and injustice we stand with the oppressed, the disadvantaged and those exploited in any way by unjust systems.
